Lavazza Italian Film Festival

The annual Lavazza Italian Film Festival will be hosted in Sydney from the 12th of September to the 8th of October. Palace Cinemas across Australia will be screening the best of contemporary Italian films as part of the Festival.

NSW Premier’s Fund for Social Cohesion Opens Today

Multicultural NSW today announced the opening of the Premier’s Fund for Social Cohesion application. The grants program supports community-led events and activities that bring together people from diverse cultural backgrounds to celebrate diversity. It aims to build on the strengths of our multicultural society, develop stronger social cohesion and community resilience, particularly among young people (aged 12-25), and to inspire them to stand up against the divisive forces of fear, hate and violence.

The Australian eSafety Office Launches Tools to Tackle Online Hate

The Australian eSafety Office today launched a new engagement platform called Young & eSafe to help counter online hate. This action is in response to a recently released research that shows up to 60 per cent of young Australians aged 12 to 17 have witnessed racist or hateful comments about cultural or religious groups online. Young people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds are particularly more prone to being targets of these online attacks.

Dive In Festival comes to Melbourne

‘From Robe to Chinese Fortune’ Exhibition Launches in Melbourne Immigration Museum

The Melbourne Immigration Museum has recently launched an exhibition called ‘From Robe to Chinese Fortune’ that explains the history of Chinese immigration in Australia dating back to the gold rushes in Victoria and New South Wales in 18 and showcasing the legacies of the early Chinese immigrants.
