Cultural Perspectives have been engaged by the NSW Ageing and Disability Commission to provide capacity building support so that the organisation delivers CALD informed practice and engagement.
The culturally relevant approach has involved working through key CALD community structures in NSW who work with and have access to older people and adults with disability in CALD communities. Through this collaboration codesign workshop were successfully run and have provided a deeper level of knowledge and understanding of how the issue of abuse and neglect of older people and adults with disability is experienced in CALD communities, and what needs to be done by the ADC to engage with them and meet their needs in situations where they experience abuse neglect.
The outcomes of this work are being used to inform ADC practice and processes.
