International Day of People with Disability

3 December is the International Day of People with Disability. It is an international observance initiative by the United Nations started in 1992 to promote a societal commitment to inclusivity through the removal of physical, technological and attitudinal barriers for people with disability.

The Scanlon Foundation has released the 2017 Mapping Social Cohesion survey results that confirms a high level of support for multiculturalism in Australia, with 83-86% of the respondents agreeing that multiculturalism has been good for Australia.

Water Safety and Child Drowning Prevention Resources Available in Multiple Languages

Each year an average of 13 drowning and 84 non-fatal drowning incidents occur in NSW children. Recent research shows that people of culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds (CALD) and newly arrived in Australia are at higher risk of drowning incidents. This is likely to be due to lack of familiarity with water activity and swimming ability in some people.
