DiverseWerks are thrilled to be attending the NSW Disability Industry Innovation Awards today at the Hilton in Sydney’s CBD to recognise the innovative ‘Diversity in Disability’ project lead by Northcott.
The Diversity in Disability project has been nominated as a finalist in the “Excellence in promoting cultural competency (organisation)’ category at the awards. While the opportunity to be presented with an award is always exciting, the quality of the nominations in this category shows the industry’s commitment to making a difference in the empowerment of all people with disability and their experience of inclusion in communities.
More about the Diversity in Disability project
In 2015, Ageing, Disability and Home Care (ADHC), part of NSW Government’s Family and Community Services commissioned the Diversity in Disability project, with project lead Northcott. This project sought to develop a sector based cultural competency framework to help support sustainable diversity capabilities and build the capacity of non-government service providers to work with a diverse workforce and population.
Commissioned by Northcott, DiverseWerks conducted a series of sector forums and key informant interviews in an effort to understand the needs within the sector to ensure the Diversity in Disability framework was adopted within the sector.
