Our Managing Director Pino Migliorino was privileged to present on Dementia and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities at the 30th International Conference of Alzheimer’s Disease International in Perth on 16 April 2015.
This conference was a big deal: 1100 delegates and experts from 48 countries and included professional and family carers, researchers, clinicians, staff and volunteers of Alzheimer associations. This conference also had more people with dementia attending than at any previous event.
Dementia is now the second leading cause of death in Australia and managing the disease has important considerations for CALD communities. During his presentation Pino provided a detailed overview of the current issues and realities for people with dementia and their families and carers from CALD backgrounds.
Pino received a fantastic response from delegates:
My local health district covers 156 different countries & 175 different languages. This needs to be considered prior to strategies #ADI2015
