Former international student named Australia and New Zealand Junior Doctor of the Year

Former international student Dr Gajen Perry has been named Australia and New Zealand Junior Doctor of the Year at a gala dinner in Hobart.

Arriving in 2010 under the international student program, Gajen was encouraged to apply to study medicine by a friend, after being dissatisfied by his job as a salesman in Canada. He was accepted to study medicine by Flinders University and has not looked back since.

Dr Perry is currently one of four Service Registrars in the Acute Surgical Unit at Lyell McEwin Hospital in South Australia.
