Multicultural Arts Victoria will present a new free multicultural event called Emerge in the North 2017 at the Plenty Ranges Arts & Convention Centre, Melbourne on 1 July, celebrating new and emerging communities in the North.
The four-hour event will feature local musicians, dancers, and performers that reflect the cultural diversity in the heart of the North. It is a wonderful opportunity for the wider audience to see something different brought by the newly arrived refugees such as Sudanese dance, the Syrian youth marching band, and the popular Cook Island dancers, as well as a series of long-established art forms performed by well-known artists and groups including Indigenous art, Brazilian percussion, and African music. There will also be a range of community cultural stalls and services.
